This year we have 9 award categories.
Nominations will open in June 2022, for the public to nominate their favourites and close on 1st July at midnight. A shortlist will then be produced, for which a panel of judges will take over, (except for the people’s choice and best cook category), and decide the final winners who will be announced on the awards night on 25 July.
The People’s Choice category once shortlisted will open back up for the public to vote their favorite from the five shortlisted categories. The one with the most votes will win this category.
The Best Cook category will be run as a competition at the Curry Mela through the masterclasses and will be announced at the awards night.
BEST RESTAURANT PEOPLE’S CHOICE
This is a race to the finish as voted for by curry lovers. Votes will be received by our website www.bradfordcurryawards.co.uk
BEST RESTAURANT JUDGES CHOICE
This category will be judged by our judges, who will be looking for the restaurant that can deliver the best in every department, be it taste, menu, pricing, atmosphere, or service. This will be one tall order.
BEST TAKEAWAY
We are a nation that loves takeaways and during the pandemic, the takeaways were the backbone of food hospitality.
MOST INNOVATIVE
In order to stay ahead of the game, creativity and innovation are key, especially if you want to stand out from the crowd. Here we will be looking for those curry houses or individuals who have brought something fresh and new to the table.
MOST CHARITABLE
The pandemic taught us a lot and giving selflessly was most certainly at the top of the menu for many of our curry houses. Not only did so many step up and deliver food for our key workers, they also gave food parcels to the most vulnerable and needy. It’s time the reward was returned.
BEST OUTDOOR CATERER
Serving great South Asian food outdoors presents a specific set of challenges, but also mass cooking isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But there are many who have mastered the art of catering no matter what the location or number.
BEST DISH
What makes a great curry? Perfect ingredients, locally sourced and cooked to perfection. What’s the most popular choice on the menu?
CHEF OF THE YEAR
They say some hands have magic when it comes to cooking. Does your chef have the flair and skills in preparing creative delicious dishes?
PUBLIC AWARD – BEST HOME COOK
This award is looking out for budding home cook’s who believe they can make a mean curry – good enough to be served in restaurants. The competition will be entered via the curry mela live cooking sessions and will be judged on taste and presentation. Winner will be announced at the awards night
